UMW wishes to announce that UMW Solomon Islands Limited (“UMW Solomon”), its dormant subsidiary incorporated in the Soloman Islands, is being placed under voluntary shareholders’ liquidation, as part of UMW’s initiative to reduce the number of dormant companies in the Group and to eliminate unnecessary administrative costs in maintaining the subsidiary further.

Mr Wayne Frederick Morris of Morris & Sojnocki, Chartered Accountants, has today, been appointed Liquidator of UMW Solomon, for purposes of the liquidation.

Other than liquidation expenses, there is no material impact on the net tangible assets and earnings per share of the Group for the financial year ending 31^st December 2011 arising from the liquidation.
