On behalf of the Board of Directors of UMW, Maybank Investment Bank Berhad (“Maybank IB”) wishes to announce that Maybank IB and Standard Chartered Saadiq Berhad (“SCSB”) had on 20 December 2012, submitted on behalf of UMW to the Securities Commission Malaysia (“SC”) an application to seek the approval of the SC for the Proposed Programme in accordance with the SC’s Guidelines on the Offering of Islamic Securities and Section 212(4) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007. UMW is pleased to announce that UMW has received the SC’s approval in relation to the Proposed Programme vide the SC’s approval letter dated 20 December 2012 which was received on 21 December 2012. The details of the Proposed Programme are set out in the attachment below. This announcement is dated 21 December 2012.
