We refer to your letter dated 5 January 2001 faxed to us on 5 January 2001 under your reference PL-010105-40975 with regard to the article which appeared in The Star, Business Section, page 1 on 5 January 2001 and in particular to the underlined sentences in the said article which are reproduced as follows :-
“Malaysian Plantations Bhd (“MPlant”) is reviewing its fund raising exercise now that MBf Finance Berhad is no longer included in the merger exercise of its banking unit, Multi-Purpose Bank Bhd.”
“…and hive off its interests in a golf course, Pantai Lagenda,…”
The Board of Directors of Malaysian Plantations Berhad wishes to advise as follows :-
i) MPlant is currently in the process of reviewing its revised funding plan and an announcement will be made by the merchant bank in due course upon the finalisation of the funding structure; and
One of the divestment referred to in the said Circular is the Pantai Lagenda golf course in Pekan.

We refer to the above news article appearing in The Star, Business section,
page 1 , on 5 January 2001, a copy of which is enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentences
which are reproduced as follows:-
